All things considered equal is one of these less likely to cause health problems than the other? (remember all things considered equal as to number of drinks and price)

Most likely am an alcoholic that's wanting to quit AGAIN. I quit drinking for lots of years maybe 8 or so and have gone back. Couple of AA meetings really turned me off with the younger crowd, so am trying to come to other solutions..

Vodka is known to be healthy in certain cultures. I also know of a few body builders than drink Vodka (when they do drink) as it is less fattening etc....

Your advice is so very welcome and I sincerely THANK you all!

Having only compared vodka to rum. (Both on the high and low end price range; it's a close calll that goes to Vodka in most all categories-taste wise. You don't need a mixer with it. Rum is sorta flat or lacking without a mixer....

Next Stop --Wine dept cabernet. Is there a preferred brand? Much thanks here!

Just think about the countries where high quality vodka is manufactured in and then about the countries where high quality rum is manufactured in. What list looks more trustworthy overall-quality-of-products-wise? Here goes your answer.

Good point and much prefer the taste of vodka over the taste of rum.

The higher priced vodka's seem to be from France with the exception of Chopin (outstanding product from Poland). I have settled on the middle gound priced Absolute from Sweden. Like the citrus one they have.
Unless I'm really ignorant, rum just does not get it for me taste wise. (That's why, as with most things in life, I thought it might be better for you healthwise, since it's taste was lacking to me anyway. But glad it isn't!)

I stopped drinking the darker liquors (whiskey, rum, scotch, etc.) about 10 years ago except for the occasional margarita - no more tequila shots.

I enjoy vodka and gin (Tanquerey) with tonic water. BTW, Canada Dry has a diet tonic water with no calories.
